Before your visit

Preparing your pet
for anaesthesia

6–8 hourswithout foodUp to 6 weeks old: 2 hours.
2–3 hourswithout water

Blood tests

All patients need recent blood test results (no more than one week old).

  • dogs up to 4 years old and cats up to 6 years old: complete blood count and basic biochemistry
  • dogs over 4 years old and cats over 6 years old: complete blood count and extended biochemistry
  • patients with suspected epilepsy: complete blood count, extended biochemistry, bile acids, fructosamine and T4
  • dogs over 6 years old and cats over 10 years old: an additional T4 test

Cardiology consultation / echocardiography

  • cats of predisposed breeds (Maine Coon, Ragdoll, Norwegian Forest, Siberian, Abyssinian and Devon Rex), or cats of these breed types
  • cats over 8 years old
  • dogs of predisposed breeds (Boxer, Cavalier, Bulldog, Pug, Boston Terrier, Shih Tzu, brachycephalic breeds, Miniature Schnauzer, sighthounds, Doberman, Irish Wolfhound, Great Dane, Newfoundland, giant breeds, Bernese Mountain Dog, Mastiff and Cane Corso), or dogs of these breed types
  • dogs over 6 years old
  • dogs and cats with diagnosed heart murmurs / rhythm disturbances
  • dogs and cats showing signs of cardiorespiratory insufficiency (reduced fitness, exercise intolerance, breathlessness, coughing, fainting, or a bluish colour of the mucous membranes and tongue)

Assessment for anaesthesia and regular medication

The final decision on suitability for anaesthesia is made during the visit, based on the medical history, clinical examination and additional test results.
If your pet takes medication regularly, please give it according to the existing schedule on the day of anaesthesia.

The Auxilium MRI facility is a branch of Auxilium Veterinary Clinic, founded in Milanówek in 2006 by Arkadiusz Olkowski.

Our team, led by dr n. wet. Arkadiusz Olkowski and dr n. wet. Diana Stęgierska, diagnoses and treats neurological disorders in dogs and cats.

We work with clinics in Warsaw, the surrounding area and across Poland. After diagnosis and treatment, patients return to their treating veterinarians.

Radiation safety

Information on the impact of the clinic’s activities on human health and the environment Date: 09 October 2025
The clinic uses X-ray equipment, among other tools, to diagnose animals. The X-ray facility operates under a permit issued by the President of the National Atomic Energy Agency. The clinic monitors staff and bystander exposure through personal and environmental dosimetry carried out by an accredited laboratory. Staff have received radiation protection training from the facility manager. Appropriate shielding of walls and ceilings, working methods, established processes and procedures, and regular dose readings ensure that the clinic’s activities involving exposure to ionising radiation have no negative impact on human health or the environment.
