Veterinary EMG is a specialist diagnostic test used to assess muscle and nerve function in dogs and cats. It is particularly useful in diagnosing disorders such as myopathies, polyneuropathies and myasthenia, which may cause limb weakness, exercise intolerance, sensory disturbances, pain, loss of voice and regurgitation of food and water. EMG testing includes two elements: electroneurography (ENG), which assesses nerve conduction, and electromyography (EMG), which examines the electrical activity of muscles. EMG is usually performed under general anaesthesia to minimise stress and discomfort. The test is safe and is an important part of comprehensive neurological diagnostics.

Veterinary EEG is a non-invasive diagnostic test that monitors electrical activity in the animal’s brain. It is used to investigate neurological disorders, including epilepsy, altered consciousness, feline hyperaesthesia syndrome and fly-biting syndrome, and to assess the brain after head injuries. The test is safe and is usually performed under sedation to minimise stress. EEG helps us better understand the causes of health problems and tailor neurological treatment.
